Scope of Practice
I provide speech, language, communication, and social cognition services in the context of social interaction, play, and structured learning activities. My professional training has focused on social cognition and social communication development, sensory motor processing, motor speech disorders, and language processing. I am PROMPT© Level II trained (a specific approach to articulation and motor speech disorders), I have completed intensive training at the DIR Institute and have attended many workshopsfocusing on Social Thinking℗ presented by Michelle Garcia Winner as well as SCERTS (Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transaction Supports: Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin and Laurent). I have also focused a great deal of professional development on sensory motor processing relating to sensory regulation, communication and language development.
My approach is family based, providing services and support in the home, school, and Under the Umbrella, A Therapy and Learning Collective. I value the collaborative process and enjoy working with all individuals participating in my client's social and academic learning. Speech and language therapy must be fun, developmental, individualized, and relationship based in the context of play, learning, and interaction.
I do not bill insurance directly but do provide monthly invoices to families that include the appropriate service delivery codes for reimbursement. My service delivery includes routinely scheduled parent meetings at Under the Umbrella to discuss progress and problem solve challenges (parent contact may either be in person, on the phone or through email). These meetings are included as part of my service delivery at no additional cost. Team meetings, extensive/formal progress notes, and services outside of my service model are billed at my hourly rate.
